Newsies

Bob Tzudiker and Noni White

Inspired by the real-life Newsboys Strike of 1899, Newsies tells the story of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy with big dreams of escaping the streets of New York City for a better life out West.**

When powerful newspaper publishers, led by Joseph Pulitzer, raise distribution prices at the expense of the struggling newsboys, Jack and his fellow “newsies” decide they’ve had enough. What begins as frustration quickly turns into a citywide strike as the newsboys unite to demand fair treatment and better working conditions.

With the help of determined young reporter Katherine Plumber, the newsies learn that their voices are stronger together than alone. Through courage, friendship, and relentless determination, they stand up against corporate giants and discover that even the smallest voices can spark meaningful change.

Filled with high-energy dance numbers and unforgettable songs like “Seize the Day” and “King of New York,” Newsies is an inspiring story about resilience, unity, and the power of young people to make a difference.
